The Flint family moved to Los Angeles from London three years ago. They are raising three daughters, two of whom have had birthdays during the quarantine.

Parents Ed and Hannah, and daughters Evie, Lola and Margot, light the candles for eldest daughter, Evie’s, eleventh birthday. Her younger sister, Lola, also had a birthday at the beginning of the quarantine in Los Angeles.

Hannah - “They both had very happy days, and I think I was able to enjoy the girls birthdays more than I ever have, and celebrate them more, because I couldn’t stress about hosting or parties or guests or elaborate plans. It all felt a lot more simple and therefore I felt the joy more. But for both of them there was a crash at bedtime. Big sobs, and awareness of what they’re missing.

“For whatever reason none of that had hit home. Maybe because the cake and treats were all over and the presents are all open, or maybe because she (Evie), like the rest of us, is just very uncertain about what the next few months of her life are going to look like.”
