In mid-March 2020, when the orders were given to shelter-in-place and to practice social distancing to reduce the spread of COVID-19, I wondered how people--sick or not--were coping. What's their mental state? Are they following the news? How are they making sense of this pandemic? To find answers, I started photographing and interviewing neighbors and friends in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. As the world grapples with the pandemic, and life changes in unforeseeable and unexpected ways, I’ll continue this project to help myself and others make sense of this new reality.
